ARTIST STATEMENT
NEW ERA PAINTINGS, 2018
In recent works, Petyka explores the possibilities of the abandonment of modern big-cities and the personal life within. The city and its state of mind appear in his pictures in a dense and in a denuded form. He focuses his attention on such unique experiences, that he transforms into comprehensive impressions. He intensifies the visuals with colors, shapes, and factures inspired by the imagery and atmosphere of modern electronic music. Usually, he uses acrylic paint, paper or canvas as the medium of his artworks, concentrating on clean structures. His works are inspired by abstract expressionism and suprematism art movements.
